Two arrested on suspicion of theft of large quantity of cooking oil - Bluehouse Hill |

|
In the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 2 June), St Albans Team 2 Response Officers stopped a white Ford Transit on Bluehouse Hill after spotting it leaving a local pub driveway. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of suspected stolen waste cooking oil in the back — not so slick after all! Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft, handling stolen goods and unlawful transport of controlled waste. After a night in custody, the passenger has been charged with theft, while the driver received a caution for theft and unlawful transport of waste. Response Inspector Matthew Cann is reminding local businesses to stay vigilant: “The theft of cooking oil costs the UK around £25 million a year in lost tax and revenue. Businesses should label containers and keep them secure while awaiting collection by a licensed recycling company.” | ||
